Dispersed Camping Rules:

  • Dispersed camping is permitted in most parts of the National Forest year round, but is restricted to 20 designated hunter camps during the fall deer season.
  • Camp only within 150′ of an allowed road.
  • Forest is mixed with a lot of private property. Check the MVUM.
  • Time limit in a few specific places (PDF | HTML) is 28 days, but you are asked to notify your camp host if you plan to stay longer than 14 days.
  • I couldn’t find the default time limit or how far away to drive.
